LAWS OF SOLOMON
ERIQ LA SALLE
Laws of Solomon, by multitalented writer, director, and television star Eriq La Salle, is not only a thriller but a thriller with life lessons. The book follows Solomon as he is forced to become a soldier in Uganda in the early 70s after his family is killed there; he does what he must and eventually gets to the United States. Like many who are smuggled into the United States, he owes money to the coyote and becomes a hitman for the coyote, who happens to be a Russian gangster. Eventually, another gangster employs him in Harlem, and Solomon becomes a hitman in New York City. More bad luck follows as Solomon moves to California and gets married, but a drunk driver kills his wife and child. Eriq La Salle has written many books in this series, and these books certainly can be read as a standalone; however, this reviewer recommends that you read all of Mr. La Salle'sbooks to remind yourself not just how talented a television actor he was going back to his days on E. R., but that he is a very talented and gifted writer who deserves all of the accolades that he has earned.
