Number one is Jake Deal, a live-streaming junkie who lives on and for the misery of others; the more horrible the pain, the more listeners he attracts. Enter Doug, who was once a knighted Angel as a public defender but now couldn't care less who walks and who goes to prison. Last on the scene is Cara, who is a concierge with an out-of-control drug habit and a talent for arranging sex parties for the likes of Jeffrey Epstein.

As the reader becomes more disgusted, LAPD makes an arrest, and a girl goes missing. A potential serial killer continues on his merry way with no arrest in sight. Read this crackling novel. A Violent Masterpiece is one of this year's best crime fiction titles.
