A DEADLY EPISODE
ANTHONY HOROWITZ
A Deadly Episode, by the creative and imaginative author Anthony Horowitz, is his sixth novel, in which he himself is portrayed as a detective reminiscent of the legendary Sherlock Holmes. This time out, a deadly episode occurs in Britain on the South Coast, where they are filming an adaptation of Horowitz's first book.
Toward the beginning of the book, the reader discovers that an actor has been stabbed. Unfortunately, there are plenty of motives, ranging from business conflicts and romantic affairs to, of course, the ever-ubiquitous financial implications that run rampant in the entertainment business. The police are called in, as well as former detective Daniel Hawthorne, whom the audience might recognize better as Sherlock Holmes. Motives abound, but why was the actor killed? Could it possibly have been a mistake?
Horowitz, as usual, delivers superior dialogue and pairs it with a great plot that offers enough twists to keep the audience on its toes. A deadly Episode can be read as one of the series or as a standalone. Either way, the reader is in for an amusing novel that only a talented author like Anthony Horowitz can provide.
