WITCH TRIAL

HARRIET TYCE

Which Trial by author Harriet Tyce is as good as her first effort, if not better. This is a book that is not a fast-moving thriller, but it is a very interesting observation of a trial of two girls who have been accused of murder or murdering a fellow student. The main character is a doctor on the jury. We see him fall apart before our eyes, as does the narrator, and the witnesses lack credibility. The book asks readers to question their beliefs: just because they believe something doesn't make it true. Readers learn that observations can be misleading and can never tell what lies beneath an attractive veneer. I highly recommend Which Trial to readers who enjoy a legal procedural that raises questions about what we believe and how we come to those beliefs. Bravo to the writer. A winner.
