FINAL COPY

ROBERT DOUGLAS FRIEDMAN

Final Copy by Robert Douglas Friedman is a great book with a linear plot that keeps the reader hooked until the last page. The book centers on a former magazine reporter who experienced the Zenith of his career in New York in the 1980s and '90s. He has switched to private investigation, and Final Copy is the story of his investigation into the murder of the founder of the magazine for which he wrote, as well as the investigation of his close friend, the owner of the magazine. As sometimes happens, we think we know more about our friends than we do. Corruption, dirty money, possible organized-crime ties, and other facets of his friend's character leave him ambivalent about their relationship. The investigator also gets a chance to rekindle his romantic interest in the widow for whom he had feelings until the deceased captured her heart. Final Copy is a damn good story that keeps the reader's eye on the ball, and in doing so, it delivers an old-fashioned PI novel that makes you a fan not only of this writer but of the genre in general. Two cheers for the writer Robert Douglas Friedman and Final Copy.
